Getting My Groove Back – Amaan

I’ve been uninspired recently but I think I’m getting back into the swing of things.

Since the beginning of the 2nd semester, I have been feeling very stagnant and uninspired. I’ve been trying to find the drive to go out and work on something but the enthusiasm was not there. Usually, I can find inspiration in movies, but I haven’t had time to sit down and watch a full-length movie. So I’ve been finding inspiration in other places.

Recently music has been really inspiring me. Music has been evoking a creative drive within me, I can’t tell you why but it has. The music I listen to is very eclectic it can range from N.W.A to Dolly Parton to Miles Davis to Sade, it’s all over the place. But recently I’ve been listening to a lot of BORNS and music from my “in your feelings” rock club playlist; which features some of my favorite modern artists like Sampha, Solange, Childish Gambino, and The Internet.

As a result of my new surge of energy, I was able to go out and film last weekend. I didn’t have a particular idea in my head, I just went out and filmed, I’m not sure what I will use the footage for but I’m happy that I was able to go out and film. I filmed some short clips of Maddie Rice working on her poetry in the clay room; the shots came out really cool because I used a fish eye lens.

btw everyone should listen to Timmy’s Prayer by Sampha. It’s a classic. Sampha in general is amazing.
