Shifting Focus

Filmmaking is hard work, that’s why I’m doing something completely different.

During the filmmaking process, I realized trying to make a ten to fifteen-minute long movie is very stressful and time-consuming. Trying to work with a bunch of people’s schedules, dealing with five other classes, and applying for college is very tiring. Attempting to juggle everything is a bit out of my grasp; so I decided to try a different approach. I decided, to compensate for my heavy workload, that I will be cutting up my script into bit size chunks and creating “episodes”, rather than a full movie. I also realized  that I want to create other content as well. Focusing my energy on smaller manageable projects will be a better use of my time. Along with my “movie”, I have also been working on a short video adapted from a poem I wrote during Sophmore year. It’s about some of the daily struggles I go through as an African American female.

I think it’s really interesting that this is how you’ve chosen to manage. I think the idea of a bunch of short pieces sounds really exciting and artistic. I would also definitely love to learn more about the piece you’re doing on the poem as well!

I remember that poem! From t. Spencer’s class, right? It’s awesome! I’m curious to see how you adapt it!
