Much of my time up to this point has been spent practicing and figuring out what I am actually performing. As the date quickly approaches, I have been forced to face some of the trickier practical details. Many people comment on how scary it must be to fill a whole hour with performing all on my own. While I am nervous for the performance, I find it much scarier to plan every detail out on my own that to actually sing, dance, or play the piano. If I could simply walk on stage and perform, I would not be worried at all. What does worry me is planning who will help me set up the stage, roll out the dance floor, move the piano, figure out the transitions, programs, and lighting. I have made progress in figuring out these aspects, but I did not realize how much extra planning goes into a performance. When I have performed in other recitals or shows in the past, none of these matters had anything to do with me; they were just taken care of. This project is really helping me realize how much work it takes to plan for a show in every aspect.
